Bullying: Recognizing It, Taking Action, And Moving On

Over the last decade or so, bullying, wherever it occurs is receiving more and more attention, and that's a good thing.

It's a complicated area, because it's very hard to come to an objective and fair definition of the term, since bullying is often defined and experienced by the person being "bullied".

We now recognize the very negative effects of bullying on children and adults, and that long term bullying can have permanent or extreme effects on many of us.

Because it's a complex area, you'll find this section to be one of the largest on our site.

Below you'll find a number of valuable resources regarding the issue -- what it is, why it's hard to stop, what to do if you are bullied, and what organizations can and should be doing to create anti-bullying cultures.

  • Get Rid Of Bullies In The Workplace

That boss who dogs your trail, criticizing your every move despite your good performance record, is a bully. And the co-worker who works to humiliate you, to demean you in front of others -- nothing more than a bully. (Added: 3-Feb-2004 Hits: 651 )
  • Are Workplace Bullies Sabotaging Your Ability to Compete?

By Linnea McCord - To succeed in this economic environment, organizations must be able to inspire all levels of employees to be innovative or risk being overtaken by more nimble and creative competitors. In such an environment, one of the surest ways for an organization to fail is to tolerate workplace bullying. Bullies not only stifle productivity and innovation throughout the organization, they most often target an organization's best employees, because it is precisely those employees who are the most threatening to bullies. As a result, enterprises are robbed of their most important asset in today's competitive economic environment - precious human capital. (Added: 28-Jan-2006 Hits: 724 )
