- The first study ever comparing emotional intelligence (EQ) and cognitive intelligence (IQ) as measures of work performance has been completed at a major Asian bank. It has scientifically demonstrated that EQ is actually more important in predicting success in the workplace than IQ. While the importance of emotional intelligence in job success has been the subject of speculation over the past few years, there have been no previous studies that have directly compared workers%u2019 IQ and EQ scores with objective measures of performance.

The EQ-i was recently administered to over 1000 sales personnel of a large U.S. based international organization. These persons were based in every state in the U.S. and in Japan, England, & Germany. The question was: are there any differences in the EQ scores of "successful" salespersons as compared to those less than "successful"?
